ProFlow artificial grass uses an advanced bio based backing system designed to improve drainage, hygiene and long term durability. This makes it particularly suitable for homes with dogs where efficient drainage and odour control are important.
ProFlow Technology – Bio Based Backing
Unlike older artificial grass products that rely on heavy latex or PU coatings, ProFlow technology uses a modern bio based backing which is lighter, more flexible and significantly more permeable. The backing is engineered so liquids pass through quickly rather than sitting on the backing layer. This allows rainwater and dog urine to drain efficiently through the turf and into the permeable sub-base beneath.
Why This Reduces Odours
Traditional latex or PU backed grasses can sometimes trap moisture against the backing layer. When dog urine sits on this layer it can lead to unpleasant smells developing over time. The breathable bio based backing used in the ProFlow system allows liquids to drain away quickly which helps prevent moisture sitting within the backing and significantly reduces the likelihood of odours developing.
Drainage Performance
All professional artificial grass products include drainage holes within the backing. These allow rainwater and pet urine to pass through the grass and into the permeable base below. When installed on a correctly prepared sub-base, water disperses naturally into the ground underneath, helping keep the lawn hygienic, quick draining and free from standing moisture.
Installation For Homes With Dogs
For the best results the grass should be installed on a fully permeable base. This allows liquids to drain through the grass and backing and disperse naturally into the ground below. For households with dogs we also recommend a specialist antibacterial infill which helps neutralise pet odours and keeps the lawn smelling fresh.
